When the R&S®SMZ is equipped with a mechanical or electronic attenuator, users can set the actual level at the output of the R&S®SMZ. Since the R&S®SMB100A reads the frequency response of the R&S®SMZ including attenuator via USB, the frequency response can be taken into account when the level is entered on the R&S®SMB100A.
